AFTER MIGRATION

IkireJones_AM.JPG

Some of us know how it feels to be left outside a door;
hoping to be invited in.
Some of us know what it means to be misunderstood,
and regarded with suspicion.
All of us know that from the darkest isolation,
the sublime will still emerge.

We were privileged to film the latest chapter of the “After Migration” saga on the beaches of Calabria, Italy, among the company of beautiful African émigrés
in search of welcoming new homes.

We hope you will accept this work
and the reverence with which it was made.
We hope you will share it with others.
And we hope you will reflect on your good fortune
when you encounter others who have been afforded much less.

Those who travel far in search of warmth
deserve all of the embraces we can give them.

A triumphant portrait of a boy who left his home,
and a single-mother who birthed her child in a refugee camp,
as they transcend difficult histories while settling in a quiet Italian town.
